Received Natalie's book! Looks fabulous . . . planning sketch for my part done (I know, I know mine is not in the mail yet).

This is the sign in page, the sketch for my first entry is done too it just needs paint. Theme is "After Dark".
I am sequestered in my studio for the second day in a row (ah- summer) and I will finish and mail this to Joey by morning - first thing!
Anyone else ever wonder why the Moleskine folks don't put better paper in their books considering how many artists use them? Cause the paper sucks! Back to work.

Nice! I kinda like the paper in Molys. You just can't use really heavy medium. Light washes are ok. Gouache is ok as long as you don't get to heavy. Remember when you send it I have moved if you need my new address I can email it to you. I'm excited to get working in some more Molys :)
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, that looks great! I love the theme too. It will be so much fun to work on. I kind of like the paper, as long as I stay away from watercolor. (It's pretty terrible for that.) If you like painting, give acrylic a try. I found the Moleskine paper stands up to that pretty well.
ReplyDeleteI guess I am a paper nut and the Moly paper is not a nice artist quality paper to say the least. On top of that my medium of choice is watercolor or acrylics painted like watercolor, so this paper is not my friend and is one reason for my delay (thankfully I am a nut and used a smaller book to test materials before starting my final project or it would have been a wreck).
ReplyDeleteI am finding watercolor is ok as long as used fresh from the tube and with a minimum of wash.
